I’m sure you’ve had a great idea for a business, having a head full of ideas has been described as ‘the entrepreneurs’ curse’. How many of us actually act on these ideas?
Gwen Blake certainly did. She dreamed up the witty meme above at the height of the recent political upheaval (the August 2018 Liberal Party leadership spill). When her meme got ‘a zillion likes’ on Facebook, that was enough market validation for her to swing into action. She created a new business overnight, organised the production of the actual bags and started selling them via the online store Etsy, racking up sales of $30,000 in just three days.
So next time you think you’re on a winner, you just might be. With a host of free or cheap digital tools at your disposal, and the web and YouTube as your technical ‘how to’ guides, converting your great idea into a profitable business may be easier than you think.

Smart Passive Income
Pat Flynn is the host of the Smart Passive Income website and podcast. I have been a fan of his since he launched his podcast in 2008. He is painfully transparent, publishing his monthly income in the top right-hand corner of his home page (yes, that is his monthly income).
He is very happy to ‘walk the talk’ and includes an income report detailing where every dollar of his income is generated.
